(5 hours ago) -- the challenge the multi-genre broadcast (mgb) challenge is an evaluation of speech recognition , speaker diarization , dialect detection and lightly supervised alignment using tv recordings in english and arabic. the speech data is broad and multi-genre, spanning the whole range of tv output, and represents a challenging task for speech technology. in 2015, the challenge used data from the british broadcasting corporation (bbc). it was an official challenge of the 2015 ieee automatic speech recognition and understanding workshop . in 2016, the challenge featured two new arabic tracks based on tv data from aljazeera. it was an official challenge at the 2016 ieee workshop on spoken language technology . in 2017, the challenge covered aljazeera arabic, and youtube recordings for the multi-genre speech-to-text and dialect identifcation. it is an official challenge at the 2017 ieee automatic speech recognition and understanding workshop . the third version of the challenge will again run as an official challenge of the ieee automatic speech recognition and understanding workshop and will feature both english and arabic data. unfortunately, due to licensing issues, the english training and test sets will not be the same as those in the 2015 challenge. we are not yet ready to distribute the data for the 2017 challenge, but you can sign up for to receive announcements at lists.inf.ed.ac.uk/mailman/listinfo/mgb-challenge . -- the arabic task for the mgb-3 is now ready. you can sign up for to receive announcements at lists.inf.ed.ac.uk/mailman/listinfo/mgb-challenge . the challenge will use a fixed training set of about 1,600 hours of broadcast audio, together with several hundred million words of subtitle text for language modelling, all provided to challenge participants, subject to signing a licence agreement with the bbc. the challenge will explore speech recognition and speaker diarization in a longitudinal setting - i.e. transcription and speaker diarization and linking of several episodes of the same programme. all tasks will also offer the opportunity for systems to make use of supplied metadata including programme title, genre tag, and date/time of transmission, enabling novel approaches for domain and genre adaptation to be applied. the mgb challenge will has four main evaluation conditions: speech-to-text transcription of broadcast television alignment of broadcast audio to a subtitle file, ie. lightly supervised alignment longitudinal speech-to-text transcription of a sequence of episodes from the same series of programmes longitudinal speaker diarization and linking, requiring the identification of common speakers across multiple recordings -- why participate? all participants to the challenge will have the opportunity to present their systems at the ieee asru 2015 workshop , where the mgb challenge is an offical challenge task. papers related to the challenge may be submitted to asru 2015 by the normal submission process, but reviewers will be selected by the mgb challenge committee. -- we hope that participation in the challenge will give: the opportunity for labs around the world to use large quantities of captioned tv data, to build systems with immediate real-world applications the chance to compare the best research systems against other labs using exactly comparable data and conditions a platform on which to evaluate novel approaches to adaptation, diarization and alignment. register now! copyright © 2018 university of edinburgh | by peter bell | website template by arcsin this page was last modified on thu 30 mar 2017 at 10:16 blog | events | about | archives | join us! | page top ↑ --
